Ashes Deaden Not Burning Flames
On January 14, 2018, Pasil -- a village in Cebu City, Philippines -- was struck by a raging fire lasting for three hours, occurring 7 days before the fiesta celebration of the Señor Santo Niño, the patron of the city. No casualties, but at least 700 families were left homeless. Despite the material losses, their burning faith for the Niño has never wavered, getting even stronger.
On January 19, Pasilanons were happily chanting “Pit Señor” (to plead to Santo Niño) during the procession -- an annual tradition leading up to the cathedral where a mass is held.
